Take the Coffee IQ Quiz

There are more than 25 ways that coffee is served in Vienna, and most coffeehouses offer at least a dozen varieties. Some of the most popular are:

Einsanner- a small black coffee served with whipped cream.
Franziskaner- coffee with a good deal of milk served with lashings of chocolate flakes.
Kapuziner (cappuccino)- Europeans consider it a morning drink, and while you can get by with ordering it in the afternoon, it's considered barbarous to order one after a meal, especially after dinner.
Fiaker- a small, strong coffee served with whipped cream and rum.
Grosser Brauner - a large cup of ordinary coffee with a little plain milk.
Kaisermelange -coffee served with an egg yolk and honey and sometimes, whipped cream.
Maria Theresa- a small coffee with orange liqueur and whipped cream.
Mazagran- an iced coffee with rum.
Melange-a large cup of coffee served with steamed milk and/or whipped cream. Obermeyer- a small cup of coffee served with cold cream.
Pharisaer- a large cup of coffee served with rum, whipped cream and cinnamon.
