London's Greenwich Park
"The Dawn of Time"
Greenwich Park, a lovely expanse of lawns and gardens overlooking the Thames in southeastern London, is best known as the location of the old Greenwich Observatory, the origin of Greenwich Mean Time. An imaginary longitudinal line drawn through the site is where astronomers mark the official start of each day, and tourists like to stop by for a compulsory photo op with one foot on each side of the prime meridian.
With six public courts located just south of the observatory, however, it's also a place where you can experience the unique frisson of serving and volleying atop one of the world's most famous points of astronomical reference.
