Tennis Ace Fights Against Breast Cancer

Manhattan's chock-a-block cityscape leaves precious little room for tennis courts, but the developers of the Champion Tennis Club found ample space for their facility on the roof of a three-story building at the corner of First Avenue and 99th Street.

No membership fee is required to rent time on these all-weather outdoor cushioned courts, which are surrounded by Uptown high-rises and views over the East River to the Triborough Bridge. Depending on the season and time of day, hourly rates range from $35 to $55 — not bad for New York City.

The club is directed by U.S.P.T.A Professional Dennis N. Aran and offers wide range of instructional tennis programs and camps for all ages and abilities. Truly New York's East Side's best-kept secret.
