One & Only Palmilla
A 1950s resort reborn as a golfer's paradise
The Palmilla originally opened in 1956 as a small, exclusive fishing lodge visited by the likes of John Wayne, Bing Crosby and Desi Arnaz. By the 1980s the property had lost most of its luster, but a thorough overhaul and expansion project completed in 1997 transformed the original hotel into an elegant, full-service resort with 27 holes of Jack Nicklaus-signature golf, meeting and event facilities and a full-service spa, fitness center and salon.
Each of the 115 guest rooms and suites has a private patio or balcony facing the sea, as well as a separate seating area, high-end entertainment system and refined Mexican-traditional décor. Meals are served indoors or on breezy terraces at two separate restaurants. A whitewashed colonial-style chapel preserved from the original 1950s resort makes the Palmilla an excellent place for a luxurious tropical wedding.
