Visit These Cool Neighborhoods Manayuk, Rittenhouse Square and Old City
Rittenhouse Square in downtown Philadelphia is the city's premiere entertainment, business and cultural district. It's home to upscale shopping boutiques and fine art galleries. The area also provides a good cross-section of American architectural styles, from the late 18th-century and early 19th-century residences of Society Hill to early 20th-century construction.
The Old City commercial district, an area extending from 7th Street east to the waterfront between Walnut and Spring Garden streets, contains a lively mix of art galleries, cool restaurants and cafes, and trendy boutiques. On the first Friday of every month, the district hosts a convivial urban block party, with many shops and galleries open until 9 p.m.
Manayunk is a former mill town in northwest Philly that has become an upscale shopping and dining district. The area sits along the banks of the Schuykill River and the Manayunk Canal. There are around 30 restaurants, 50 boutiques and 20 furntiture stores in Manayunk so bring your credit card.
