Not so long ago, the "Glitter Gulch" district of downtown Las Vegas had lost much of its luster, but lately the area has undergone a major face-lift, largely anchored by the highly successful Fremont Street Experience pedestrian mall. Two blocks from Fremont Street, the Main Street Station Casino Brewery and Hotel offers 406 modest but comfortable rooms with some very attractive rates.

Main Street’s Old West décor features an interesting collection of antiques and artifacts, including Buffalo Bill Cody’s private rail car, a portion of the Berlin Wall, and various fragments of opulent Victorian-era mansions. The property also harbors one of the city’s most popular buffet restaurants, as well as an American-style steak and seafood restaurant and a festive sushi bar microbrewery.

Double rooms typically go for less than $100 a night, with deals as low as $45 a night frequently available. Some suites are available for guests who frequent the on-site casino.
