Boutique Bargain Great Places to Stay: Orchard Hotel
It's not the cheapest place to stay in downtown San Francisco, but with a winning combination of competitive rates, fine facilities and a desirable location just up the hill from Union Square, the Orchard offers excellent value for your money.
Unlike the vintage buildings that house most boutique hotels in the area, the Orchard was built from the ground up in 2000, meaning that guests never have to cope with outdated plumbing, telecommunications or climate control, and the rooms are reasonably spacious by local standards. The 10-story building houses 104 smoke-free rooms and suites with pleasant traditional decor and a long list of amenities, including cotton robes, in-room safes, cordless phones and 27-inch televisions with DVD players.
The best rates begin at around $139 a night, with some rooms reaching up to $419 a night. All rates include continental breakfast, Internet access and free DVD movie rentals.
