This relative newcomer to the Boston hotel scene opened in 2002 in a 19th-century townhouse at Copley Square in the city's highly desirable Back Bay district. Originally built as a private residence in 1892, the six-story building across the street from the Boston Public Library has been completely renovated to house 33 stylish guest rooms with private bathrooms.
Despite the age of the building, all rooms feature thoroughly modern telecommunications and entertainment systems, with custom furnishings and individual climate control. The décor is suggestive of a comfortable and well-designed contemporary residence, and the small scale of the property makes it a cozy alternative to the big brand-name business hotels in the area.
No on-site parking is available, so the Charlesmark is not a good choice if you're traveling by car, but the location is ideal if you enjoy urban walks, and the hotel is just 50 yards from the Copley "T" station Two room categories are available, with double rates ranging from about $120 to $190 per night.
