Casa de Campo Golf Courses Dominican Republic
This laid-back beach resort on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic boasts not one but three public courses crafted by legendary designer Pete Dye. The oldest of the three, dubbed Teeth of the Dog after a local phrase describing the craggy coral formations that grow offshore, is widely viewed as the most exciting course in the Caribbean, making Casa de Campo a top destination for serious practitioners of the sport.
Work on Teeth of the Dog began in 1969, and the course opened two years later. The challenging layout and rugged coastal terrain including seven holes dramatically situated right on the rocky shoreline quickly gained favor in the golfing world, and the course remains Casa de Campo's star attraction. The more forgiving Links course was added in 1976, and the new Dye Fore, which measures a daunting 7,770 yards from the back tees, opened in 2003. With 54 masterfully designed holes between them, the three courses offer abundant challenges and plenty of options for players of all stripes.
Guests of the resort will get the best golfing value by booking a green fee supplement in conjunction with accommodations. The three-day supplement, which may be used over the course of a week-long stay, costs around $372 USD. A seven-day supplement to be used on seven consecutive days costs $744 USD. Individual green fees are $205 USD for Teeth of the Dog and the Dye Fore, and $147 USD for the Links course. In summer when parts of each course are closed for maintenance, the fee is $147 USD for all three courses.
