Tropical Thailand may be half a world away from the cool green coast of Scotland where golf was born, but in recent decades the game has become an integral part of well-to-do and expatriate life here, with dozens of fine courses located on the outskirts of the Thai capital. The Summit Windmill Country Club, formerly known as the Windmill Park Country Club, is one of the best, with an engaging design by British champion Nick Faldo, and a convenient location along a major highway just west of town.

Water hazards are a prominent feature of this 18-hole, par 72 course, which is ringed with artificial lakes and planted with lush rows of palm trees that line the wide fairways. Four of the holes are tricky dogleg par 5s, including the first and the 18th, both of which require players to drive over and alongside a narrow lake that borders the clubhouse. The total length from the back tees adds up to a considerable 6,964 yards.

The green fee at Summit Windmill is 2,000 baht (about $55 USD) on weekdays, 3,000 baht (about $80 USD) on weekends, plus a 250 baht caddy fee and 500 baht for cart rental. The club recently added floodlights for night play, with reduced green fees from 5 pm onward.
