This all-suite chain hotel is certainly not the cheapest place to stay in D.C. — rates generally range from about $150 to $300 a night — but clean, comfortable lodging and a great location midway between Dupont Circle and Georgetown make it a good choice. Embassy Suites features 318 fairly priced two-room units, a fitness center and swimming pool, and an above-average breakfast buffet included in all rates. Accommodations and amenities are a cut above an average motel, and kitchenettes and fold-out sofa beds make it a particularly good choice for families.

The Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom Metrorail stations are both about four blocks away, and in good weather it's a pleasant walk to Georgetown, the National Mall or the White House. There's a casual Italian restaurant on-site and room service is available, but you'll also find a good range of dining options in the neighborhood.

For the best rates, check out the Embassy Suites website. Senior and AAA discounts are available, and like most centrally located Washington hotels, rates are typically higher on weekdays than weekends.
