Until recently, lodging on Vieques was limited to a small inventory of inns, guest houses and vacation rentals — a mix of budget and more stylish accommodations with price tags in excess of the $50 to $75 a night. But scheduled to open on April 30, 2009 is the W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island, the Caribbean’s first W Hotel.

Dining Options

For such a small and sleepy island, Vieques offers a surprisingly good selection of restaurants. Among hotel dining rooms, try the Island Steak House at the upcountry Crow's Nest hotel, bbh Restaurant at Bravo Beach Hotel, and Carambola at the Inn on the Blue Horizon.

Successful stand-alone restaurants include Chez Shack, serving classy international cuisine in a funky outdoor setting, El Resuelve, a casual open-air eatery, and Coqui Fire Cafe, located on the Enchanted Garden Inn property.
