Hawaii, Na Pali Coast of Kauai Wondrous Destinations
Along a section of Kauai's mountainous north shore, 4,000-foot sea cliffs covered with lush vegetation rise from the sea like a vast green curtain of pleated stone. No roads penetrate this precipitous wilderness, so the only way to see it is on foot, from the air, or by boat. A number of local outfitters offer guided sea kayaking excursions that allow physically fit visitors to experience the Na Pali Coast panorama from a pelican's point of view, and to visit remote north shore beaches without tackling the treacherous hiking trail that follows the base of the cliffs. For those who is not up to a strenuous day of paddling, sailing trips and motorboat excursions are available as well.
