Prague, Old Town Square Wondrous Destinations
Prague is a city made for walking. In summer, however, the historic Stare Mesto district can get so packed with sightseers that it's often difficult to appreciate the city's remarkable collection of well-preserved buildings from the medieval, Renaissance and baroque periods. Better schedule your trip for April or May, when you can walk the narrow cobblestone lanes without stepping on too many toes, and when the atmospheric Staromestske Namesti, or Old Town Square, is not completely overwhelmed with humanity. This is the best time to claim an outdoor table at one of the cafés facing the square, order up one of the Czech Republic's wonderfully fragrant pilsners, and spend some quality time drinking in the lively panorama of one of Europe's most picturesque public plazas.
