Chicago, Wrigley Field Wondrous Destinations
With its antique manual scoreboard, ivy-covered outfield walls, intimate scale and expansive views out over the bleachers toward Lake Michigan, the second-oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball is also one of the game's most picturesque. Lights were added in 1988, making night games possible for the first time since the stadium opened in 1914, but daytime is when Wrigley Field is at its boisterous, old-fashioned best. There's hardly a bad seat in the house, and on a bright summer afternoon, with a hot dog in one hand and a cold frosty one in the other, you don't have to be a baseball fan to appreciate the splendor of the ever hopeful Chicago Cubs' treasured home turf.
