The Services
Designed to promote fitness, reduce stress, and achieve self-awareness, Miraval's daily "life balancing" activities range from morning power walks and stretch classes to croquet and bird watching. On-site trust-building challenges take office-outing ropes courses to a new level: Guests face their fears of the unknown on a 32-foot-high climbing wall and gain insight into personal and professional relationships by caring for horses via the resort's signature Equine Experience.
More sedate offerings include more than 100 body-balancing and detoxification options as well as life-management workshops. Topics cover an artistic and spiritual spectrum, from the practical applications of drumming to the rejuvenating effects of clay. Meditation and breathing work also play roles in Miraval's wellness agenda; guests opt from activities such as yoga, tai chi, Pilates, healing visualization and shaman-led sweat lodge retreats. A signature offering, Liquid Joy Meditation, combines underwater submersion with sound therapy to induce a "playful dolphin"- like state of harmony within each participant.
The Accommodations
The lodgings aren't lavish, the focus being on comfort and rest. But the resort's 106 Southwestern-style rooms are tastefully decorated, with carved-wood furnishings and wrought-iron and woven-fabric accents. In-room amenities include thick velour bathrobes and mini-fridges with complimentary water and juice.
