Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa Experience Beauty
Sprawled over 500 acres of reservation land along the Rio Grande River, the Tamaya a partnership between Santa Ana Pueblo tribal leaders and the Hyatt Regency corporation offers a traditional Native American take on the luxury spa experience.
The Services
A typical day at the resort could include a lesson in "huruna oven" bread-baking or abode brick making, each taught by a pueblo elder; a medicinal root-gathering excursion through the nearby Sandia Mountain foothills; or a native arts and history chat at the on-site cultural center. Available, of course, are the sorts of recreational diversions one expects of a luxury resort: aerobics and yoga classes, swimming pools and hot tubs, an 18-hole golf course, tennis instruction, bicycle and horseback riding, even hot-air ballooning.
Bodywork options span the gamut at Tamaya Mist Spa, where standard spa facials and massages share lineup with desert-specific treatments such as seaweed moisterizers and dry brush exfoliations. Another body-restoring highlight is the spa's Spirit Path treatment, a full-body scrub, massage and heated herbal wrap designed to detox and renew.
The Accommodations
Accommodations, accessible via sage-scented main lobby, incorporate traditional pueblo architectural styles, colors and decor. All 350 guest rooms infused with stone, wood and adobe accents are furnished with all modern hotel amenities are decorated with traditional Pueblo paintings, wall weavings, murals and pottery, as well as contemporary art works and historic photographs depicting early New Mexico life.
