Gain greater appreciation for the wine you drink with a behind-the-scenes tour.

California Tourism presents: Touring Wineries

Touring wineries can be a fun and educational way to learn more about a particular area.

  • Be selective.
If you’re traveling to a destination with a multitude of wineries, hone in on a certain region or select wineries based on specific varietals you would like to experience.

  • Go behind the scenes.
Call wineries prior to visiting and arrange private, behind-the-scenes tours. The winemaking process is fascinating and lends a greater appreciation to each glass you drink.

  • Pair wine with cheese.
Cleanse your palate between tasting with cheese and crackers. This slows down the absorption of alcohol and allows for a more enhanced tasting experience.

  • Buy direct.
If you’re able, purchase wines directly from the vineyards you visit. Some wines are available directly only through the wineries. You’ll also save money and bring home great mementos.
