Next time you have a tropical theme party, consider making leis for guests as an added touch. Leis are commonly made with orchids, ginger flowers, gardenia, plumeria and carnations. You can string the necklaces with unwaxed dental floss or string — use shorter lengths to make wrist, ankle and hand leis. Flowers should all go in the same direction. If you like, use silk flowers or dried leaves to make a permanent lei.
