Feels Good, Too (103)
Pilates might sound like Greek to you, but it's an exercise technique with a passionate following. Developed in the 1920s by German-born fitness trainer, Joseph Pilates, the system is a series of controlled movements performed on specially designed apparatuses. Learn why a growing fan base is convinced there's no better way to stay fit.

Then, meet Frieda Caplan and her two daughters. They're the proprietors of Frieda's, Inc., a specialty produce company known for introducing exotic fruits and vegetables to American consumers. Find out why the business was dubbed "the company that changes the way America eats."

Finally, travel to Utah to meet a couple whose idea of a romantic weekend for two means a trip back in time. Their home-away-from-home is a decades-old treasured camper called a Sheepwagon.

Sheepwagon Facts:

  • The Sheepwagon, or Sheepcamp as it is sometimes called, served as a mobile home for shepherds during the grazing season.

  • The first and original "home on wheels" was built by James Candlish of Rawlins, Wyo. in 1884. In 1892, the Schulte Hardware Company of Casper built an improved model.

  • Due to the historical significance of herding, in Utah, Sheepwagons can be parked anywhere without a permit.

Frieda's Inc. Facts:

  • A large, brown, spiky fruit known as a durian is considered a delicacy by many, but it has a pungent aroma that is offensive to some.

  • Caplan is credited with renaming, promoting and creating a global industry around the Chinese gooseberry. She renamed the fruit after New Zealand's fuzzy bird, the kiwi.

  • When demand for kiwi caught up with supply, Caplan encouraged many California growers to grow kiwi trees domestically.

  • Frieda's was one of the first companies to attach its own brand name labels directly to its produce.
