Stanley Wanless, Hot August Nights (110)As a child, Stanley Wanlass once expressed his passion for cars by carving them out of soap. Today Wanlass, a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS), conveys this passion with beautiful bronze rolling sculptures. His personal auto collection ranges from Bugattis, Alfas to Auburns, Indy Cars, Ferraris and Hot Rods.
The Rock `n' Roll era was the age of innocence and prosperityand of the coolest cars ever seen. Every August the 50s and 60s come alive again in Reno, Nevada, with "Hot August Nights." Young and old relive the wonderful days of drive-in movies, cruisin' on Main Street and boppin' at the malt shop. Those who attend can even drag race legally at the Cruisin' Café. The event is topped off with a classic car parade, and anyone with a classic vehicle, 1972 or older, can participate.
