Wine Cellar Tips
Breathing Room : Episode FLBRM-301

If you're planning to build or buy a wine cellar, consider these tips from the experts:

  • Climate control, limited vibration and absence of natural light are all necessary for proper aging of your wine.

  • Walls and ceiling should be water-resistant, and climate-controlled.

  • Flooring should be durable and easily cleaned. Tile or hardwood are both suitable.

  • Strong, long-lasting woods such as redwood, red oak or mahogany are ideal for wine racks.

  • When buying a unit, consider the volume of bottles to be stored. Choose the location carefully for proper fit.

  • The ideal wine cellar temperature is between 52 and 55 degrees.
