SCOTT CORRIDAN
Age: 37
Home: Santa Barbara, California
Profession: Event Planner/Interior Designer
Education: Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning University of California at Santa Barbara
Why I should win: Because I love sharing and working through great design with an audience.
My secret weapon: My glue gun.
My design style boils down to: California flip-flop-wearing, chenille-blanket-throwing, natural and sophisticated.
Three favorite styles:
1. Barn/western
2. California beach
3. California modern ranch
A design do: Always lighting a space properly with incandescent light, candlelight or both. No one looks good in a poorly lit fluorescent space.
A design don't: Never place objects on unnecessary angles.
Favorite room to design: Bedroom.
Dream design project: A Western ranch on acreage with horses and barns.
Formal design training: USC School of Architecture; UCSB Environmental Studies with a focus on Urban Planning; Associate Designer at CT Design, Santa Barbara; Associate Designer at Tesutti Bartoli Design, Santa Barbara; owner of Corridan & Company Design Studios since 1994.
Family: Parents, my brother, Kevin, and sister-in-law, Mandy, and my nephews Jacob and Kael.
When not working, I'm: Riding my horse or skiing in Mammoth Lakes, where I have a second home.
Something you'd never guess about me: That I want to have great financial wealth so I can fund and further the causes I'm passionate about.
Childhood dream: To make the world a more beautiful place.
My dream vacation: A beach in Baja, California, under a palm tree on the sand after body surfing for hours.
Four words that describe me: Passionate, intense, dedicated and hot.
If my life were a sitcom, it would be: The OC, okay, it's not really a sitcom, but every person [including the locale] is the life I come from.
