Treasure Hunt (107)
Interior designer Sheila Bridges gives a guided tour of this country’s largest antique fair at Brimfield, Mass. She lets us in on her flea market survival guide, then visits the unique and inspiring home of a flea market connoisseur.

Bargain Hunt

  • Brimfield is the country’s largest outdoor antique show with over 130,000 visitors each fair.
  • Brimfield Antique show takes place for one week beginning every Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.
  • The chaise is made from cane. The majority of the world’s cane is grown in the forests of South East Asia.
  • At Brimfield, bargaining is sometimes referred to as ‘dickering’.
  • An antique is an object with more than 100 years of age to it.
  • Rattan furniture is made by joining rattan poles together. Wicker has a woven effect much like a basket.
