Tropical Sky From Patriotic Spirits: 8 All-American Cocktails
"When the festivities call for an All- American theme, embellish this ruby-hued beverage with playful cockail skewers threaded with plump fresh blueberries and miniature white marshmallows," says Mary Lou Heiss, who included this recipe in her book Green Tea (Harvard Common Press: 2006).
"No simple iced tea, this libation's got snap, pull and flavor," says Heiss, who has also co-owned Culinary Specialties CooksShopHere gourmet food shop in Northampton, Ma. for 30 years.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
12 ice cubes
3 oz. chilled green tea
1 cup chilled pomegranate juice
3 oz. gin
1 Tbs. amaretto
blueberries and mini-marshmallows, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Put four of the ice cubes, the green tea, pomegranate juice, gin and amaretto into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for one minute.
2. Divide the remaining eight ice cubes between two old-fashioned glasses.
3. Strain the cocktail into the glasses and garnish. Serve immediately.
