Sauterne Orange-Marshmallow Freeze Recipe
From 10 Wine Ice Creams and Ices

Even without a crank or lots of time, you can still make a frozen wine dessert. Try this retro recipe from Wine and Wine Cooking by Anne M. Logan (Westover Publishing Co., 1972).

Serves six

Ingredients:

1 lb. marshmallows
2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup California Sauterne or other white dinner wine
1/4 cup lemon juice
dash of salt

Instructions:

1. Set refrigerator control to coldest setting to make the freezer very cold.
2. Combine all ingredients in a double boiler. Heat over boiling water until marshmallows are melted and ingredients are well blended, stirring frequently. Cool.
3. Turn mixture into a refrigerator freezing tray. Freeze until frozen one inch from side of tray.
4. Turn into a chilled bowl and beat with a rotary beater or handheld mixer on low setting until smooth.
5. Return mixture to tray, freeze until firm.
