The Marincanto
Named after the quixotic Marincanto Hotel in Positano, Italy, this is a fun and romantically elegant choice and a wonderful way to bring in the new year. My wife and I spent many a romantic afternoon sipping this simple cocktail while relaxing. Just one taste will transport you to the lovely sun-drenched shores of the Amalfi Coast. "Cento di questi giorni!" ("May you live a hundred years!")
Ingredients:
white wine (I prefer an Italian Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio)
1 fresh peach (use one whole peach per drink -- that’s how they did it in Positano, but one half will do fine)
Preparation:
Remove the skin from the peach; slice the peach into chunks. Place the peaches in your wineglass (use a larger wineglass if you can). Fill your glass with wine, covering the peaches fully until you have a little more than an inch above the peaches.
