A lot of guests don't have to mean a lot of hassle. The secret: plan, plan, plan. Here are 4 tips for pulling off a big bash like a pro:
1. Create a kitchen plan.
Before entertaining a crowd, plan ahead so you can enjoy the party just as much as your guests. If you're doing all the cooking, choose dishes that can be made in advance. If a dish requires last-minute preparations, pre-measure ingredients to save time and keep counters clear.
2. Serve wine flights.
Count on half a bottle of wine per guest every two hours. For something different, serve wine flights featuring award-winning wines from the same variety or region. Flights are great conversation pieces.
3. Enlist help.
Ask a family member, friend or even hire a few professionals to help you serve and clean-up so you can mingle with guests.
4. Make a toast.
If the occasion calls for a celebration, as the host, you're the lead when it comes to toasting. Before you begin, make sure everyone has a full glass.
