Rum Manhattan
Trivia: The Manhattan cocktail is thought to have originated at the Manhattan Club in New York in the early 1870s. Usually you use a bourbon or rye whiskey, but try rum for a smooth twist on the classic.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 oz. premium dark aged rum
1 part (.75 oz.) chilled sweet vermouth
2 dashes aromatic bitters
Orange zest twist, garnish
Preparation:
Fill a chilled tumbler with ice and add the rum, vermouth and bitters, and stir smoothly in a circular motion with a bar spoon, avoiding adding unnecessary air to the drink.
Using a julep strainer, strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange zest twist.
