Richard Petty NASCAR campers listen to instruction next to stockcar
Have a need for speed? How does 160 mph sound? That's just one possibility at the Richard Petty NASCAR Driving Experience, where you can negotiate a true 600-horsepower stockcar around a racetrack--and compete with other fantasy campers for the fastest lap of the day.
Camp Details
Campers drive authentic stockcars including Pontiac Grand Prix, Ford Taurus, Chevy Monte Carlo and Dodge Intrepid.
Some other locations include Milwaukee, Phoenix, New Hampshire and even Walt Disney World.
A Winston Cup stockcar has a top speed of around 200 mph. Richard Petty Driving Experience participants reach speeds of about 140 mph.
Campers can, and should, bring family and friends to watch the proceedings. They can accompany the driver the majority of the time, and can take "fan photos" at any point except the most intense instruction.
Logistics
Fees start at $99 for a Ride Along and go as high as $2,999 for the two-day Racing Experience.
Camp lasts from a few hours to two days.
