5...4...3...2...1-- lift-off! Blast off like an astronaut through space simulators at U.S. Space Camp in Hunstville, Ala. The camp also tours to cities like Atlanta.
Camp Details
- There are several types of space camps offered: adults-only camps, parent and child camps, and camps for kids, teenagers and educators.
Kids must be in the 4th grade and at least nine years old.
- A minimum height of 48 inches is required for the simulators, with the exception of G-Force Accelerator, which requires a minimum height of 50 inches. Maximum weight for simulators is 260 lbs. Closed-toe shoes must be worn on all simulators.
- Activities include simulated Space Shuttle missions, IMAX® movies, training simulators (like the 1/6th Gravity Trainer that simulates walking on the moon), rocket building and launches, scientific experiments, and lectures on the past, present, and future of space exploration.
- Tuition includes meals, educational programs and materials, accommodations and T-shirts.
- At the graduation ceremony, each camper receives a team picture, wings, a certificate of completion and special awards.
