Simply Wine host Andrea Immer, and Ellen Flora, wine educator at Domaine Chandon, offer these wine pairings:

Domaine Chandon Pairings

  • Goat Cheese and Brut Classic
  • Humboldt Fog and Riche Chardonnay
  • Raspberries and Riche
  • Manchego and étoile Rosé
  • étoile is Domaine Chandon's name for their rosé and translates to "star."

Glossary of Terms

  • Flavor style — dry or sweet
  • House style — indication of body; light, medium or full
  • Category — classic or specialty
  • Brut non-vintage — a blend of vintages for consistency and complexity
  • Vintage — from a single year's harvest
  • Rosé — red wine adds color and body
  • Blanc de Blancs — made from white grapes only
  • Tete de Cuveé or prestige cuveé — the most expensive bottling of the house
  • Sur Lees — on the lees or on the yeast deposit (a richer, more complex flavor arises the longer the wine stays on the lees)

  • Chardonnay — front palate
  • Pinot Noir — back palate
  • Pinot Meunier — seasoning
  • Yeasty — fresh dough, bread-like aroma and/or flavor
  • Bready — a grainy flavor often found in ales
  • Biscuity — flavor often associated with malt
  • Nutty — nut-like bouquet often found in white wines
