Take the Bash Outside

5 ways to make having an outdoor party a breeze

The weather's great, so it's time to head out to patios, decks and terraces for parties and barbecues. Here are 5 tips to make it easier to throw an outdoor bash:

1. Plan your menu.
Decide what you're going to serve several days before the party. You should create a complete list of everything you need, from foods and beverages to plates, utensils, serving pieces and ice.

2. Make sure the grill is working.
Check the grill a few days in advance to see if it’s clean and working properly. Make sure you’ve got plenty of propane or charcoal.

3. Make side dishes, sauces and marinades in a day or two in advance.
This saves you time on the big day.

4. Ask your guests to help out.
Enlist your guests to help with cooking and serving tasks on the day of the party. This will ease your workload and create a cozy atmosphere.

5. Take the meat off the grill a little early.
When you’re grilling meat, take it off the grill while it’s still a little undercooked, place it in a container and cover with foil. The meat will continue to cook under the foil while you finish cooking the vegetables and side dishes. You can then serve everything together, and the meat won’t be cold.
