Packing a Pet Travel Kit

Traveling with your pet can be a lot of fun, especially if you've packed all you need for a safe, comfortable trip.

  • Include toys and treats.
When putting together a pet travel kit, be sure to include familiar items like a favorite toy, pillow, or bedding to help your pet adjust to new surroundings.

  • Pack your pet's favorite food.
Bring plenty of your pet's regular food, too. While you may enjoy novelty on the road, a sudden diet change for your dog or cat might cause digestive trouble. Unfamiliar drinking water might also cause stomach problems, so consider bottled water or filling containers at home.

  • Remember supplies for grooming and clean-up.
Don't forget clean-up supplies. Bring a waste scoop and plastic bags to pick-up after dogs. For cats, a disposable litter box and extra litter are great to have on hand.

  • Bring a pet first-aid kit.
When you're outside, keep your pet restrained. Pack two leashes for your dog or cat, and a second cat harness, so you'll have a back-up. Your pet will be safer and you'll be more relaxed!
