Dudley's JournalWhy doesn't a place named after "Bone Island" have bones for hungry doggies? Key West was not Dudley's favorite destination. We went into a lot of old, historic houses that wouldn't look too kindly on dogs running around, so Dudley had to go to doggy day care. We've found that boarding Dudley during the day is occasionally the only way we can enjoy some of our destinations. But to put it gently, Dudley doesn't like to be separated from us. When we dropped him off at the boarding facility, he got the "shakes" and looked terribly nervous. It was heartbreaking.
However, his trip to Key West had started to go bad even before the doggy day care. Key West temperatures were a challenge for all three of us, but especially for Dudley. And, as if the heat weren't bad enough, he was actually pecked by a bird while walking down Duval Street. The bird, protecting her nest, just swooped down and bit him right on the rear end.
More from the insult to injury departmentthe name Key West comes from a Spanish name for "Bone Island," so you would think there would be bones just lying around for the taking. Well, guess what cute little dog didn't find a single bone? You know itDudley.
