What are your thoughts on using the color orange?
My favorite color is orange, but I have never had the nerve to paint a room orange. My fear is that it will feel like living inside a pumpkin -- not a smart move for the long haul. My budget is small, but my dreams are big. I'd appreciate your vote of confidence.

Answer: Bravo! I applaud your love of orange. It is the most sociable of colors, visually advancing in a room and making it feel smaller and cozier. Never be afraid to go with your gut instinct where color is concerned. Who cares what anyone else thinks? This is your home, and if it suits you, that's what counts.

You can start with one wall; it won't feel overwhelming as long as you introduce other colors in your room. However, an overly colorful room can be tiring unless you plan for some neutral spots. In this cheerful space, the wood floor and biscuit brown sofa offer respite. A black dining table and chairs serve to neutralize the surroundings. But here was an opportunity to add more color with lively place settings in hot new shades of chartreuse and chili red. Treat yourself to your favorite color, you'll never be sorry.
