How do I create a beach look?
My daughter and I are redoing her room, cottage, beach like. We wonder if there is a way to create this look.

Answer: You do not have to live beside the beach to have a room with a seaside theme! You can create the atmosphere of sizzling summers. A color palette of royal blues, whites or sand tones can be painted on the walls, wood work, radiators and furniture. Existing paint on a sleigh bed's footboard can be sanded down by hand, then you can create a simple beach mural. Satin varnish can be added for protection.

A suggestion for lower walls is wood wainscoting, real or painted. For upper walls use a low sheen paint. The imperfections will look good. Have fun!
