  • A connecting flight to Kenai from Anchorage takes 20 minutes.
  • The Kenai River has the largest King Salmon in the world and a one-day fishing license costs $10.
  • The King Salmon catch limit is two per year and Alaska has other strict fishing limits, so check with your guide for more liberal catch-and- release guidelines.
  • The best time to go to Lake Clark Bear Camp is late July through mid-August, when bears wander around pulling salmon from the streams.
  • The plane trip from Kenai to the Lake Clark Bear Camp takes 45 minutes — bring your own binoculars for bear viewing.
