- The Château du Sureau was built in 1991 by Erna Klubin-Clanin. The inn was built as a follow-up to Erna's Elderberry House Restaurant, which was named for the elderberry bushes that cover the rolling property.
- Château du Sureau has earned the Mobil Five-Star and the AAA Five-Diamond ratings, as well as inclusion in the prestigious Relais & Châteaux list of hotels and restaurants.
- There are only 10 guestrooms at the Château, most of which have wood-burning fireplaces.
- In addition to the Château and restaurant, a private villa is available. Built in 1999, the Villa Sureau is a 2,000-square-foot guesthouse designed to resemble a Paris manor house.
