Haiti Volunteer Vacation (315)An ASAP "volunteer vacation" is a unique way to travel and help others at the same time. Founded in 1993 by Sam Muyskens, the Wichita Rotary Club and Inter-Faith Ministries, ASAP Haiti is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides medical care, nutrition, and education to communities in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Thanks this program's volunteers, the rural town of Lambert now has a medical clinic, kindergarten, vocational school, water reservoirs and micro-lending project for women.
Mission "vacationers" include doctors like Reggie Voboril, who cares for clinic patients, and musician Ron Calhoun, who teaches schoolchildren. Working side by side with the people of Haiti to implement solar ovens, education and other community improvements, these and other volunteers experience a vacation that is truly moving and memorable.
