Taos (119)
Nestled at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Taos, N.M. offers visitors a stunning landscape that has inspired artists for decades. Join us for a river rafting tour and a llama expedition into the nearby canyons. We'll also explore southwestern style homes and accommodations that display a mix of Native American, Spanish and Anglo cultural influences. Casa Bella, a vacation rental, offers contemporary style mixed with classic adobe construction. The historic Adobe and Pines Inn sits on land once used for Native American gatherings and reflects the rich native history of the area.

Taos Facts:

  • Georgia O'Keeffe, Ansel Adams and D.H. Lawrence all lived in Taos.

  • The first American artist, Ernest Blumenschein, arrived in 1898 when his wagon wheel broke near Taos. He was so taken with the town after he arrived that he decided to stay.

  • In 1969, Dennis Hopper used Taos as the backdrop for his movie Easy Rider.

  • About one-third of Taos's 4,000 residents are artists.

  • Casa Bella sleeps up to 10 people. Rates range from $400 to $750 per night.

  • Adobe and Pines Inn is four miles from the downtown Taos plaza. Rates for the nine guest rooms range from $95 to $185 per night.

  • Full day rates for El Paseo Llama Expeditions are $80 for adults, $40 for children under 10 and $15 for infants and toddlers.
