Karmann Ghia
A CARography : Episode FLCAR-310
The Karmann Ghia, VW's venture into the sports car market, was created in 1956.
While it had limited power for a sports car, its stylish looks and reasonable price made sales strong.
Mocking its perceived lack of power, a Karmann-Ghia TV ad showed it bouncing off a sheet of paper.
The initial price of the Karmann-Ghia was around $3,000.
The type 34 Karmann-Ghia was completely hand-built in 1961.
The1966 Kamrann-Ghia model introduced front disc brakes.
