Hot Buttered Rum

  • Ingredients:

    Makes 1 serving

    1 cup water
    1 cinnamon stick
    grated nutmeg
    3 whole cloves
    2 tsp. brown sugar
    1 tsp. butter
    1-1/2 shots dark rum
    1 orange, sliced
    sugar for rim

    Directions:

    1. Pour water into a pot and bring to a boil.
    2. Add cinnamon stick, nutmeg, cloves and brown sugar.
    3. Simmer for 45 minutes, strain and return liquid to pot.
    4. Whisk in butter and add rum.
    5. Rub the rim of your mug with an orange slice and dip the rim into any granulated sugar.
    6. Pour in rum mixture.
    7. Add another fresh cinnamon stick, topping with fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
