Whistling Straits, Straits, Wis. Hole 12 Specials : Episode FLAMD-SP01
Location
Kohler, Wisconsin
Hole #12
Course Description
Inspired by the classic links of Scotland and Ireland, this course designed by Pete Dye lines the shores of Lake Michigan and offers a play of 7,343 yards and a par-72.
Details
Nicknamed "Pop Up," the Straits' 166-yard, par-3 hole hangs out over the lake and plays downhill to a very large undulating green.
Why is it rated so highly?
Pete Dye designed a course that not only offers a stunning layout that stretches over 2 miles of Michigan's shoreline, but also offers a design challenge green at hole number 12 which, if missed, can offer 40 feet of dunes and Lake Michigan.
How do you play it?
Listen to your caddie's club selection on this walking-only course. Since wind can dramatically change the nature of your shot, take plenty of clubs to increase your shot options.
