Hole #4

Course Description
This 6,732-yard, par-72 course dangles 100 feet above the beach and the Pacific Ocean.

Details
The 415-yard, par-4 hole is downhill and not quite straight, with just a slight bend from left to right around the dunes.

Why is it rated so highly?
No course in America is more faithful to the storied links of Scotland and Ireland. The genius of the all-natural course is hole placement, and you'll never forget the way the hole turns you towards the sea for the first time--all you can see is the vast Pacific.

How do you play it?
Hit your tee shot a little to the left, but not too far left or it will be blocked by the dunes. At the green, the wind will be strong so hit something low and let it run away from the pot bunkers on the left side. Unless you catch the course on a calm day, plan on chipping or putting your way on.

Course Trivia
Bandon Dunes was the work of an almost unknown young Scottish architect named David McLay Kidd. Since it opened in 1999, Kidd's star is on the rise and he's opened his own design firm.
