There are more than 190 wineries and a number of world-class spas in Sonoma County. Peak season is considered May to October, but the best weather in the Sonoma Valley is August to November. December to March is considered the off season, and the grape harvest, or "crush season," occurs in September and October. Eight regional parks within Sonoma County have halls available for event rentals at an hourly rate lower than that of most wineries. Sonoma is located just 40 miles from San Francisco and boasts two local airports.
