Course Description
The south course snakes through stark, rugged A'a (ah-ah) lava, which has a rough surface composed of broken lava blocks called 'clinkers.' Aside from great golf, the challenging course offers a panorama of mountain and ocean views. The South course is home to hole 15, one of the most photographed of golf holes in the world.
Details
On the hole blue and white tees must carry the crashing surf. The large two-tiered green is heavily guarded by sand all the way around and cross winds do come into play.
Trivia
Before teeing off on this hole, the island tradition is to face Mauna Loa and tip your hat to Madame Pele, the volcano goddess, for good luck
