The MiGi Girls pose with party host Garett Chipman at the French General; Hollywood, Calif.

Follow these tips from the MiGi Girls to make your own outdoor party a smashing sucess:

  • Schedule parties for morning or evening to beat the heat.
  • Figure out which way the sun will be moving and position your party space accordingly.
  • If you're going to leave furniture outdoors overnight, don't forget to turn off automatic sprinklers.
  • Set lighted candles around the perimeter of your party space.
  • As a general rule, do not keep food out for more than an hour.
  • Have the telephone number for a local cab company handy in case any of your guests over-indulge.
  • As the host, don't forget to have a good time with your guests!

Party Food

  • Set up an outdoor kitchen by using your grill and a table for food prep.
  • Brush the grill with olive oil to keep the dough from sticking.
  • Soak wooden skewers in cool water before putting them on the grill; otherwise they'll burn.
  • Baste with berbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Use a grill pan to keep vegetables from slipping through the grates.
