Classic at Aspen 2003 One of the best food and wine festivals in the world, the Aspen Classic is an annual event sponsored by
Food & Wine magazine. It's not just about the famous chefs, fabulous food and the wine it's about developing rising young culinary talent in this country.
Each year Food & Wine names "10 Best New Chefs," an accolade that can make all the difference in the competitive restaurant business, where 90 percent of restaurants fail within the first five years. These young chefs are not just great cooks, they're great innovators on their way to stardom.
Candidates for the award must be executive chefs in charge of menu creation for five years or less. Beginning with the thrill and fanfare of being selected, this special tracks the chefs' progress to a "coming out" party in New York. The grand finale is a trial by fire as the chefs cook a special dinner for 800 of America's most discriminating palates, with plenty of "second helpings."
