Accentuate the Positive, Downplay the Negative. Bright oranges and warm earth tones on the walls, upholstery and throw pillows add a needed and successful injection of color and depth. However, highlighting the center structural beam by painting it red while leaving the remainder of the ceiling white unnecessarily draws the eye to this element and breaks the ceiling plane into a series of busy components rather than a cohesive element. Addressing the family’s needs successfully, however, proves that Todd has real talent and a definitive sense of who he is as a designer.
